Almost six years after a primary school was closed down due to dwindling numbers, county council bosses are set to unveil plans for housing on the site.

Herts County Council has sent out a leaflet to Warners End householders surrounding Martindale Primary and Nursery School in Boxted Road inviting them to a public exhibition of their plans.

The consultation comes ahead of a pending planning application for a proposed housing development.

County bosses closed the school permanently in July 2008 following a review of primary school places in Hemel Hempstead and children attending there moved to a newly named school - Galley Hill - formerly Rossgate Primary School.

Martindale is deemed to not be located in an area of existing or predicted future demand for additional school places.

The exhibition is being held at Micklem Primary School, Boxted Road, on Thursday, March 27 from 3.30pm to 7pm. For those that cannot attend, the documents will be available online from March 27 to April 3 at www.vincent-gorbing.co.uk/consultation
