A grassroots charity that befriends blind people living in the county has put out a call for volunteers and donations.

It comes amid fears that the Herfordshire Society for the Blind, which runs Boxmoor’s Social Centre for the Blind, could miss out on support after the national charity RNIB placed a series of adverts in local newspapers requesting help.

Workers from the Herts-based good cause point out that it is the only charity of its type working locally on the ground, going into people’s homes and offering support and running workshops, courses and social activities.
