A man aged in his 40s died after collapsing while playing football yesterday evening.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to the astro-turf pitch Hemel Hempstad’s Sportspace just before 6pm.
An East of England Ambulance spokesman said: “Sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the man was pronounced dead.”
Before paramedics arrived staff at the leisure centre did their best to save the man using CPR and a defibrillator.
His family have been informed and police say they are treating his death as non suspicious.
A spokesman for Sportspace said the staff involved will be offered counselling.
