Ponies one step closer to survival after at risk sanctuary fun day raises thousands

The owner of an animal sanctuary is now half-way towards raising the £10,000 she needs to save her ponies after a successful fun day on Sunday.

Before the event, Carol Buchorski was only £1,500 towards that target.

She uses Two Oaks Pony Sanctuary in Darr’s Lane, Northchurch, to nurse a variety of poorly animals back into good health, funding all of their supplies herself.

The centre is also home to pigs, ducks, chickens, rabbits and a goat.

In April last year, Dacorum Borough Council served an enforcement notice, ordering her to replace her stables with something more in keeping with the Green Belt

Carol has until June next year to find the £10,000 to do this or some of her ponies may have to be put down.

But she said: “Wow... what a amazing day yesterday at our open day. We are now just over half-way towards raising the £10,000 we need. Thank you everyone.

“We didn’t think we’d be able to top last year’s open day, but we were overwhelmed by the support shown to us by the community.”
