Families planning a summer holiday trip to the capital in August are being urged to plan ahead so they are not hit by rail closures.
Train operator London Midland is reminding passengers that the Hemel Hempstead to London Euston railway line will be closed for three weekends of the month, as part of a multi-million pound upgrade on the stretch of tracks.
The £81m improvement plan is to replace track, signalling equipment and overhead power lines in the Watford area, and will suspend all services into London on that route at Hemel Hempstead.
The closures take place on Saturdays and Sundays the 9th and 10th, 16th and 17th and 23rd and 24th, as well as the following Monday, August 25.
During the closures, London Midland will be running train services as far south as Hemel Hempstead, except for Sunday, August 24 when they will stop at Milton Keynes Central.
Alternative transport will be provided to Stanmore underground station, calling at stations along the route approximately every 30 minutes.
Additionally, 0n Monday 11 and 18, there will be a reduced train service in operation to and from London Euston for the majority of the day.
