Everyone loves having a few sweeties – but they have just become that bit more harder to come by in Berkhamsted.
Retro confectionery purveyors Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe closed the doors of its Lower Kings Road base for the final time on Saturday evening.
A 50% sale was held on its final day to help the business clear its stock.
Workmen moved in today to strip lettering and pictures from the front of the unit to make it more attractive to other businesses who may want to rent it.
Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe had been based there for more than two years.
The shop was opened by owner Jane Belson after she returned from the USA – where she had spent three years with her husband, who was there for work.
She said at the time that it had taken her quite a while to find somewhere for Mr Simms to be based, due to the lack of suitable unoccupied retail units.
Speaking in 2012, she said: “There are very few that become available, especially in Berkhamsted.”
It is not known at this stage how many businesses are eyeing up the unit that Mr Simms has moved out of.
