Hemel Hempstead’s Snow Centre celebrated its fifth birthday with five days of super-cool activities aimed at inspiring people to take up winter sports.
Joining in the celebrations, which culminated on Bank Holiday Monday, were Olympic bronze medallist Jenny Jones and slopestyle winter Olympians Aimee Fuller and Jamie Nicholls, as well as ski crosser Ed Drake.
The centre’s managing director Ian Brown said: “Jenny is an inspirational figure and we were so pleased to have her and the other athletes at our event.
“Interest in snow sports soared during the Winter Olympics in Sochi and with her bronze medal success she really has inspired many new people to take to our slopes.
“We’re thrilled to be able to introduce people to the snow and the slope and to help nurture the next generation of aspiring athletes at The Snow Centre.”
Hundreds of fans hit the slopes with the pros, while children aged three to six were helped on their way to future Olympic glory with their very first snowboarding experience with the help of instructors.
Taster lessons lasting 15 minutes were also available for free on Monday, while professional instructor Warren Smith offered his expert tips and advice for more advanced skiiers.
