There’s no need to go to the seaside – because now the beach has come to Berkhamsted!

About three tonnes of sand have been delivered to the Make Believe Ideas children’s cafe – which is in the Water Lane Car Park behind Tesco in the town centre.

Manager Tammy Farrier said: “Everyone in the summer holidays goes to the beach, so we thought we’d bring the beach to Berkhamsted, so you don’t have to go anywhere.

“We’ve got buckets and spades and ice cream here. The children think it’s fantastic. It’s somewhere safe for them to play and they love it.”

You can visit the Make Believe Ideas beach between 8.30am and 5.30pm from Monday to Friday and from 8.30am to 5pm on Saturdays.
