Motorists were left frustrated and angry this morning after a hold up on Tring Road which added an hour to many people’s journey times.
It is believed that the chaos was caused by emergency works to fix a damaged water main.
But Thames Water says that these works were carried out yesterday, and the roadworks are set to be removed.
But many commuters were enraged by the fact that there were no workmen where temporary three way traffic lights were causing the hold up close to the Holiday Inn.
A spokesman for Thames Water said: “The traffic lights on Tring Road were there to allow us to fix a burst water pipe yesterday and will be removed today as the road is now safe to drive on.
“We’ll need to carry out further work on the road and are speaking to the local council to agree the best time to do this.
“It is likely to be overnight work to cause minimal disruption. We’re sorry to everyone who has been delayed.”
