A new exciting pop-up cinema is launching in April at the Natural History Museum in Tring.

Created by husband and wife team Darren and Deborah Henderson, from Amersham, The Chiltern’s Vintage Cinema will show modern classics and the latest releases to audiences throughout the region in unusual locations.

And they have chosen the museum as one of their four locations across the Chilterns - and have aptly selected 'Night at the Museum' as the opening flick to kick things off for four days of film fun on April 5.

So grab a drink in the Lion Bar before watching the Ben Stiller classic right in the middle of the museum itself.

Darren Henderson said: “We had cinemas in both Amersham and Beaconsfield but they’re long gone, so our aim is to replace these but as pop-ups.”

And wife Deborah added: "We want to capture some of the magic of a trip to the cinema.

"Our experiences are as much about the ambiance as it is the movie itself. We have ushers and usherette’s in traditional uniforms, an intermission, popcorn sold on an ushers tray, retro sweets and local ice-cream for sale.

“Everyone we’ve spoke to is totally behind what we’re trying to achieve. Local people, the venue owners and the film industry."

The couple say they have 'invested heavily' on the latest projection and sound equipment to ensure a high quality experience.

Ian Watson, commercial manager of the museum, said: “It will be a truly unique film-going experience to watch 'Night at the Museum' seated next to our seals, deers and hippos."

Three further nights with different films are scheduled, with two screenings a night, making this a perfect family trip for the Easter school holiday.
