A NEW cycle repair shop backed a dad on his charity bike ride.
Steve Birch, from Berkhamsted, got specialist help from cycle mechanic Shaun Bridgman of Bridgman Cycles in Potten End, pictured above.
The 34-year-old, who opened the business in April, decided to support Steve on his Alpe d’Huez Triathlon after reading about it in The Gazette’s sister paper The HeraldExpress.
Shaun said: “I gave his bike a pre-safety check to make sure everything was working as it should be and gave him some inner tubes and some links for his chain.”
Steve took part in the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon on July 28, which involved swimming 1.2km, cycling 30km and running 7km.
He was raising cash for the Berkhamsted-based charity the Sunnyside Rural Trust, which uses gardening to help adults with learning difficulties, and the McCabe Educational Trust.
