FEW people braved the wet weather on Saturday to take part in the launch of the Tring Spring Fayre.

The start of the annual two-week festival organised by Tring Together was missing the hot weather that brought many people to the event last year.

Organiser Vivianne Child said: “There was a real Dunkirk spirit and about 100 children petted the animals during the day.”

Five-year-old Ava Deacon put on her wellies to get in the animal pen to stroke the lambs and goats.

Karl Daniel, aged 16, raised funds for a World Challenge trip to Nicaragua with Tring School by selling Lego toys under the cover of his umbrella.

Tring Squadron 2457 Air Cadets, Alex Webb, aged 13, and Jake Fotheringham, aged 16, entertained visitors with a treasure hunt and Daisy Thomas, aged six, and her three-year-old sister Isabelle, caught ducks at the play stand.
