Hemel Hempstead’s own Iron Man has returned from Austria after completing a painstaking physical challenge in a new personal best time.

Metropolitan Police sergeant Tim Boyall, who lives near the Old Town, reached the finish line for the event, which involves a 2.4 mile swim, 112 miles of cycling and a marathon, in just over 13 hours.

Tough guy Tim, who has also taken on six similar sporting challenges in the UK, will split the £1,000 he raised between Macmillan Cancer Support and Dacorum homelessness charity DENS.

He said: “My only concern was getting to the finish, even if I had to walk or crawl all the way. I want to say a huge thank you to all my family, friends and workmates for all their help and sponsorship.”
