Can someone lend me a five pound note so I can tear it up please?

My business partner and I have learned a good lesson this week. He and I have bought lots of things from Ebay and never had any problems.

We followed the tips to look at their feedback and to make sure they'd been trading for a good time. Keith wanted to buy a lens for his new Nikon D700 and he'd been watching a few items on Ebay for a while.

Then he spotted a company selling the exact lens he wanted at around 200 less than he could buy it in the shops. Feedback was good and they were UK based.

So he put in a bid on the lens and a couple of other things bringing his total spend up to 1600. They said they preferred BACS so he transferred the money from our business account to the company's business account.

The goods never turned up.

It transpires that they had been selling small items completely legitimately for around a year then came the big hustle.

Loads of people have also been conned. If Keith had used Paypal he would have been covered. As it is so far it looks as though we've lost it.

Yesterday I had my purse stolen in Aylesbury.

Luckily there was less than 3 in very small change and a few credit/debit cards in it.

I stopped the cards straight away and reported it to the police. I didn't lose much but it's the inconvenience. I couldn't buy my Tesco shopping, it's a pain ringing the credit companies and you begin to lose your faith in human nature.

So if you can lend me a fiver so I can tear it up that will be the third thing!
