I'm a twit, its official.
My family have suspected it for a long time but now they know. About a month ago I joined the millions of people who Twitter.
If you've been hiding in a box you might not have heard about it so I'll tell you. It's a social networking 'chat' system on the internet.
You are restricted to 140 characters for your 'tweet' so you get good at succinct, pithy comments.
You follow people (you can see their tweets) and they follow you (if you're interesting enough).
I follow @StephenFry like around 319,398 people. Yes, you read it right.
Stephen is amongst the top 100 tweeters. His tweets are interesting.
He's been in Mexico filming something for tv and he's posted what he's doing, including photos as long as he was in range of a mobile mast etc at least half a dozen times a day.
Phillip Schofield (@schofe) is also in the top 100 and he's a great funny tweeter.
Most of my followers and people I follow are photographers like me but I've also found some people from Tring one of whom is Alison Record @Alicat13).
She tweets lovely heartening messages every day. She is a carer for her husband and an open university student. She has recently started a group online called NeedNewFriends.
She felt that she wasn't getting out and making new friends so she made this website http://neednewfriends.webs.com/ for the Tring area.
She says 'As being a 50 several (but still think I am in my 20/30's!)and a carer for my husband I suddenly realised how almost non-exsistant my social life is and thought I should do something about it!
I had the idea of starting a club with similar minded people as a way of getting together to chat here and out there in the real world!
It's for single mums and dads, carers, those new to the area, lonely or bored people. Take a look on the website and see what you think.
My first twitter today was '#creditcrunchtip (this is a hashtag, I'll tell what that is another day). SAVE electricity. Turn off all the lights in your house and walk around wearing a miner's hat.'
