X now certainly marks the spot at the Hemel Food Garden after the Sunnyside Rural Trust’s pirate-themed fun day drew in the crowds.
Visitors had the chance to look around the site’s new farm shop, which sells locally-grown produce, and is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
Youngsters enjoyed pirate-themed activities, pizza-making and face-painting, while adults took advantage of the cake stalls, tombola and discounted plants.
The trust’s chief executive Keely Charlick said: “The feedback has been great. People were very interested in what is going on here and sales in the shop were brisk.”
The charity supports adults with learning disabilities through horticultural activities, and took over the plot on Two Waters Road two years ago.
