Police appeal after New Year street attack

POLICE are still appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead was attacked in St Albans by a gang of strangers when he asked them for directions.

He was on Hatfield Road near The Rats Castle pub in St Albans during the early hours of New Year’s Day.

His attacker has been described as a white man aged in his late teens to early 20s, about 5ft 10ins tall and of a medium build.

Police say that the offender had short dark hair and was wearing a blue jacket.
