Fashionistas will have the chance to rub shoulders with some of the top names in the business next week.
Lucy Glasser – owner of pre-loved clothing and accessories boutique Luminous & Vogue on Lower Kings Road – is hosting an official launch party for her pop-up fashion shop, and several cutting-edge designers from the capital will join in the fun.
The party starts at 7pm on Friday, December 6, at cafe bar Here and visitors will enjoy a free glass of Prosecco on arrival and a chance to chat to designers, before indulging in some late night retail therapy at Luminous & Vogue.
Labels on sale include luxurious lingerie brand Buttress and Snatch, based in London’s East End, and whose client list includes pop princesses Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Christina Aguilera.
The shop’s creative director Lucy Glasser said: “They’ve come to Berkhamsted, and we just can’t believe it. They usually have clients go to them for made to measure pieces, which is a lovely, traditional way to buy underwear – but people just don’t do that anymore.
Also on sale will be unique footwear by Natacha Marro, who has had the likes of Lady Gaga and Helena Bonham Carter wear her creations. Lucy said: “These are not everyday footwear – they are so bespoke.”
Berkhamsted-based designer Jacqueline Wharam, whose leather TBL creations are also sold in the shop, said: “We’re trying to encourage people to come out of London and realise that Berkhamsted isn’t the back of beyond.
“We want to create a buzz in the town and get local people interested in what we’re doing.”
The shop will be hosting designer pieces right through until January, so there’s plenty of opportunity to find that extra-special Christmas present for a loved one.
Admission to the launch party is free but ticketed, so Lucy asks those who plan to attend to RSVP by calling her on 01442 866744, or emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
