This year’s Poppy Appeal was launched in Hemel Hempstead’s town centre on Saturday.

Young air cadets along with Royal Marine James Allsopp and Royal Engineer Matt Kemp from the Hemel 100 Milers were out in force. The group will be running more than 100 miles in four days next week to rake in cash for the British Legion.

Poppy Appeal co-ordinator for the town and the county, Sue Rose, said: “We have had people queuing to buy poppies so it has been wonderful and long may it continue.

“We are in so much need of this money, it all goes to help the serving personnel and their families.”

The appeal runs until Sunday, November 11,
