A parabadminton player from Potten End has begun an online sponsorship campaign as he prepares to enter the sport’s World Championships.

Martin Rooke, 40, of Hedgeside, is currently ranked world number one at the sport, which he took up just two and a half years ago after an accident in 2006 left him mostly wheelchair-bound.

He is now appealing for donations towards the cost of his accommodation, flights and entry fees for the world competition in Dortmund, Germany, in November, and has so far raised £650. Visit gofundme.com/4lbxxw for details.
