Beer and cider enthusiasts who visited the Rising Sun pub’s weekend festival were able to soak up the atmosphere alongside the newly repainted canal lock.

A group of regulars at the canalside venue on George Street, Berkhamsted, have adopted the lock and are now responsible for keeping it tidy and reporting any issues to the Canal and River Trust.

Joint licensee Nigel Granger said: “The beer and cider festival was a really good weekend where we had 40 varieties of beer and cider, from across the countries including local producers like Tring Brewery.

“It was great fun to be by the canal with the newly-painted locks.

“It is nice to be able to put something back to this important part of our business which so many enjoy on occasions like this.”
