Roadworks clutter will be cleared away by workmen to make way for this year’s Old Town Victorian Evening.

Organisers are putting the final touches to the popular High Street event and workmen will clear away bollards and traffic signs on Saturday morning, so that preparations for the evening festivities can get underway.

The road will be closed to traffic from 9am.

Although the event – organised by Community Action Dacorum – has been slightly scaled down due to the late-running roadworks all the Christmas-themed favourites will still be on offer, including the arrival of Queen Victoria, the Christmas lights switch on by Dacorum Mayor Penny Hearn, the Rennie Grove Hospice Care Light up a Life service, charity stalls and children’s rides. The evening runs from 4pm to 7pm.
