Tributes have been pouring in for a much-loved teacher and cricketer who lost his battle with cancer on Saturday.
Former Lockers Park School and Adeyfield School teacher Roger Doodson, who was also chairman of Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club, passed away at the Hospice of St Francis after a brave fight against the disease.
He leaves behind his wife Caren, sons Jack and Michael, and daughter Joanna.
Roger, 64, was in his second spell as chairman of Hemel Town CC, having taken over at the helm in spring 2011.
After a career as a prolific first XI bowler, he went on to captain both the second and third teams, before his illness forced him to step down from third team captaincy at the start of this season after more than a decade as skipper.
Roger was also a popular teacher among staff and pupils, and enjoyed more than 30 years at Adeyfield School.
Dozens of tweets have been posted on Twitter in honour of Roger since his death.
