A lost dog was nicknamed Scrap when it was taken in by staff working for the rubbish clearers and recycling firm Waste King.

The firm’s customer service assistants Harry Durham and Andy Morgan came across the pup close to the company’s headquarters near Tring.

Harry said: “It was very early in the morning and Andy and I were on our way to our first job when we noticed a dog crossing the road. There was no one else about so, being dog lovers, we stopped our vehicle and approached the dog on foot.

“The dog - a cross between a beagle and a pug - wagged its tail as I approached.

“Andy checked its collar but couldn’t find the name or address of its owner.”

The lost pet was taken back to Waste King’s offices in Long Marston, where he was given free run of the office.

It was great to be able to reunite the dog with its owner.

Harry put a post on the Everything Tring Facebook page and it was not long before the dog’s owner came forward and the two were happily reunited.
