A post office and village shop run by the community it serves is in with the chance of bagging a national award.
Sarratt Village Stores and Post Office has made it to the finals of the Countryside Alliance Awards, also known as the rural oscars.
Top businesses now go forward to the national final with winners being announced during a plush reception at the House of Lords on April 30.
Sarratt post mistress - one of the four paid managers - Jane Watson said: “We are really excited it is such an achievement.”
The village shop and post office on The Green was taken over by the community almost three years ago and a team of volunteers help to run it alongside the managers.
Countryside Alliance eastern regional director and judge William Burton said: “I was greatly impressed with this project - it is the heart of the Sarratt community.
“The previous owners were looking to sell the shop on, prompting a community-wide campaign to buy the shop with funds from over 85 local families, the previous owners are also shareholders, showing their continuing commitment.”
