A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.
A town centre event this weekend to celebrate Volunteers’ Week is set to raise money for the Volunteer Centre Dacorum.
Volunteers Week is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK and it begins on Saturday.
This year’s Volunteers Week focuses on saying ‘thank you’ to the millions of volunteers who regularly contribute to society.
There will be fun for the whole family from 11am until 3pm at Saturday’s event at the Roundhouse in Marlowes.
Volunteer knitters have been busy making beautiful hand crafted items that will be on sale on the day.
Martin and Ivy Crowhurst will be running a tombola stall and children can guess the name of the cuddly bunny.
Fantastic raffle and competition prizes include a short break holiday at a Parks Resort of your choice, a family ticket to Woburn Safari Park, a canal boat trip with Reach Out Plus, tickets to the Rex cinema in Berkhamsted and many more.
Janice Carol and friends will be providing live entertainment with pop and jazz songs from the 1930s to the present day.
Volunteer Centre Manger Heather Allen said: “It’s been another busy year at the centre and we couldn’t manage without the help of our wonderful volunteers.
“Volunteers Week is a chance for us to thank them and the 1,300 plus volunteers recruited this year for Dacorum-based charities and community groups. We’re also really grateful for the generosity of the companies and individuals who have donated prizes and helped us with this event.”
These celebrations will help spread the message about how fantastic volunteering can be as well as raising vital funds for the charity.
By supporting the volunteer centre you will be helping over 350 Dacorum based charities and community groups. Your support could even help to give an unemployed person the chance to rebuild their life through volunteering or a disabled person to experience life changing opportunities.
If you could help before the event by donating a prize or with practical help on the day, we would love to hear from you.
Even if you can’t help by volunteering, why not come along and join in the fun?
