Owners of a dog which went missing after a flat fire in Tring three weeks ago continue to offer £200 for its safe return.

Jack Russell terrier cross Gerald bolted after a fire at owner Paula Goodman’s home in the early hours of May 16.

The small dog has been missing ever since, despite several reported sightings in the local area. The latest was said to be near Stubbings Wood on the outskirts of Tring.

Paula’s son Matthew said: “A woman driving on the road said she had to swerve to avoid a creamy, wiry little dog. She said he ran off back into the woods.”

Gerald was adopted by the Goodmans from Appledown Dog Rescue in Eaton Bray in 2010.

Manager Julie Shelton said: “It’s important that anyone who sees Gerald doesn’t approach him or try to catch him.

“Often dogs which have been domesticated and then find themselves back in the wild will revert to their natural instincts and scavenge for food.

“Gerald will be very frightened and disorientated, so if anyone sees him, they should call myself or Matthew with a time and a place of the sighting, and we can go from there.”
