See a snapshot of the animal kingdom
There will be some spectacular sights on display when the Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition opens at The Natural History Museum in Tring on Saturday, December 1.
Teenager Owen Hearn proved to be a high-flier when he was hailed as the Veolia Environnement Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year for his image Flight paths, featuring a resplendent red kite mirroring a distant plane.
It will be among 100 photographs that make up the touring exhibition, which will be at the Akeman Street venue until March 10, 2013.
It feature images by the winners and runners up, who are professional and amateur photographers of all ages.
Museum manager Paul Kitching said: “This exhibition is always a popular one for the Museum. Showcasing Owen’s internationally acclaimed photograph captured in the local area makes this year particularly inspiring.
“Only 50 years ago, red kites were facing extinction but, with a successful reintroduction campaign, it’s no longer unusual to see the birds flying over the Museum.”
