A NEW base has been found for a self-group after it lost its home of 10 years.

The informal mental health support group met regularly at a site in Alexandra Road, Hemel Hempstead, before a recent takeover of the NHS premises where they met.

Luckily a helping hand reached out to the group from Link Family Services, which is based at Hobletts Manor Junior School, after a story appeared in the HeraldExpress.

The group met for the first time yesterday in a room owned by the service, and will continue to meet there every Wednesday.

Group member Lindsay Body, 62, from Woodhall Farm said: “We’re very happy we’ve got a new home and it’s a brilliant place to meet.”

Link Family Services is offering the new purpose-built room out to community groups.

The service primarily works with families from a number of ‘link’ schools around Hemel Hempstead.

A grand opening is being held next Thursday for the new Link Family Services building and MP Mike Penning will be cutting the ribbon to mark the occasion.
