Sexual assault victim ‘ran to Boots for help’

A 15-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted in Hemel town centre ran into a shop to ask for help.

The teenager is reported to have been assaulted on the Marlowes at around 11.30am on Thursday, July 2.

Herts Police say the victim was understandably upset and ran to the nearby Boots chemist to seek help.

A customer approached her to comfort her before a member of the shop’s staff came to help.

A 35-year-old man from Enfield has been arrested in connection with the incident.

He has been bailed until August 13 pending further inquiries.

Assistant Investigator Deborah Newsham said: “I am appealing to the woman who went to the girl to please contact me as she may have information which could assist our inquiries.

“If this was you, please contact me via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number D1/15/4175.”
