A VILLAGE shop, run voluntarily by the community, is celebrating its second anniversary.
Now owner of Wilstone Village Shop Liz Faulkner is set take a well- earned break after turning around the business she came out of retirement to run.
She and her husband Ron have successfully run the shop since October 2009 and are planning on handing over the management of it on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to volunteers.
The couple took over the small business after its previous owners sold up because they couldn’t make money.
Liz has been operating the shop as a non-profit business from which nobody takes a wage.
She said: “It has gone better than I expected and people have been really supportive. It is like a coffee shop where people hang out.
“We’ve had about 20 volunteers come forward to run it for us so we can take a step back.”
