A supermarket customer was chased by police after he threatened to throw a tin of baked beans at shop staff.

Police officers were called to the Tesco Extra in Jarman Way, Hemel Hempstead at 8pm on Tuesday (July 28).

He was completely kicking off at a manager, who he was threatening to throw cans of beans at.

A witness to the scene.

A witness said: “He was completely kicking off at a manager, who he was threatening to throw cans of beans at.

“He squared up to him and said: ‘You want some? I’ll give it to ya!’

“He was removed from the shop, swearing, and then he ran off towards Jarman Park.”

Before the man left, he kicked the security guard in the leg before running off towards Planet Ice on the nearby Leisure World complex.

Officers gave chase but the suspect disappeared in the St Albans Hill area.

A police spokesman said: “The incident has been logged as a common assault without injury.

“Investigations are ongoing but if anyone has information that could help officers, please call 101 quoting D1/15/4885.”
