“Wendy and I had a brilliant time doing Strictly Learn Dancing back in March and loved dancing together every week,” he said.

“I’d been thinking of asking Wendy to be my wife for a while and it seemed the perfect opportunity to plan a proposal at the glittering finale, in front of our family and friends.”

The couple signed up to the dancing competition based on the hugely popular BBC Strictly Come Dancing to show Paul’s appreciation to the caring hospice staff who looked after his late wife Elizabeth.

Now the hospice is looking for 20 fresh couples to embrace strictly fever and learn the speedy Samba and passionate Argentine Tango in just six weeks, starting from January.

Open to all, the competition will culminate in a dazzling grand finale at The Centenary Hall in Berkhamsted on Saturday, March 15.

Regular evening training sessions start on Wednesday, January 29 at Hemel Hemsptead’s Cavendish School under the expert guidance of Brian and Shirley from the Baila-Cusworth Dance School. Participants are asked to raise a minimum
of £400 in sponsorship to support the hospice’s
work.
