A PORTRAIT of Win ston Churchill signed by the man himself is just one of the rare items going on sale at Tring Market Auctions this week.

The 1954 pencil sketch on cardboard by Henry Ford has been signed on the back by the iconic British prime minister and has an estimated price of £150 to £200.

It is among hundreds of lots in the auction’s first 20th century sale of the year that has pieces from Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, designer and 19th and 20th century movements.

Managing director Stephen Hearn, pictured above with the Churchill lot, said: “The collection entered is the result of years of collecting and we are thrilled to present it in our 20th century sale.”

Viewings start tomorrow from 12pm.
