Skater poet launches first book
Skater poet Mat Lloyd launched Demo Tape, his book of poetry, at The Old Town Hall Gallery Bar, in Hemel Hempstead, last Saturday night.
Demo Tape marks a milestone in the 30-year-old performance poet's rapidly burgeoning career and it is available on Amazon and signed copies can be bought through his website.
It is Mat's first book and includes all of his best works, which are neatly packaged in the small black book that fits nicely in your back pocket.
The layout is separated into two parts, Side A and Side B, like an old fashioned cassette tape and depicts a time in the early 1990s when a young Mat first got into lyricism.
At the Gallery Bar launch Mat took the audience through the highlights in his career so far and performed the poems that really made people sit up and take notice.
He showed his controversial video called Bank Manager Lament, which sees him recite the piece about unfair bank charges while stood on a chair with a noose around his neck.
He also performed This Town, a poignant piece about people who blame the town they live in for negativities in their lives, rather than themselves.
And he finished with the first showing of an animated video for Blokes Poem, which he wrote after a close friend's suicide attempt.
