Skaters jam for vital cash to extend Hemel Hempstead resource

A day of jumps, stunts and live music has raked in vital cash for Hemel Hempstead’s skating community.

The town’s Skate Park Group held an ‘Eight Year Jam’ on Saturday to celebrate the Gadebridge Park skating mecca’s birthday, and raised funds towards an extension on the free extreme sports resource.

The event featured music and DJ sets, live art including a demonstration by local Jake Smith and a barbecue.

The group hopes to introduce urban style features such as steps, rails and benches. It is also looking for new members to help make the park bigger, and Youth Connexions are offering a free recording session to young people who help raise money for the cause.
