Sports stars help Tring charity raise £27K

Sports celebrities were the highlight of a charity dinner that cashed in more than £27,000 for Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care.
The event at Pendley Manor Hotel on Thursday smashed its previous record by £6,000.
Footballer Ian Wright, referee Mark Halsey, Olympic champion rower Andrew Triggs Hodge, presenter Jim Rosenthal, cricketer Hugh Morris and wheelchair basketball player Louise Sugden, from Aylesbury, all took part in a question and answer session with captivated audience after a formal dinner.
Spokesman Kathryn Pezet said: “It was a great night and we had a fantastic response to the auction. A signed Liverpool shirt and stadium tour proved very popular.
“The event was sold out and we are still counting funds raised .”
The annual sports dinner has so far raised more than £120,000 for the charity.
