WARM weather earlier in the month has teased out the first buds of bluebells that are beginning to form a carpet of blue on the forest floor.

Our photographer snapped two-year-old Erin Bowers from Hemel Hempstead enjoying the sight at Ashridge Forest in Ringshall.

Chilterns Conservation Board, which looks after bluebell woods in Wendover Woods, Bradenham Woods, near High Wycombe and the Ashridge Estate, near Berkhamsted, said the blooms will be at their best during the next two weeks.

Spokesman Claire Forrest said: “It’s a fantastic time of year to make the most of our beautiful local countryside and enjoy all the signs of spring.

“You can find lots of information on the best places to see bluebells in the Chilterns, plus details of walks and bike rides, at www.chilternsaonb.org.”
