After weeks of training and practising climbing techniques at Kings Langley’s Phasels Wood activity centre, a team of 1st Apsley Scouts headed up to the Peak District for a day to put their new skills to the test on real rock.
The group headed to Stanage Edge near Hathersage for a day of challenging climbing.
Stanage is an escarpment famous for its fantastic climbing opportunities and attracts climbers and walkers from across the UK.
Under the supervision of leaders, the scouts successfully completed a number of challenging routes, improved their techniques, developed their belaying skills and learned about the safety aspects of real rock climbing.
After several exhilarating hours the group left a sunny Peak District and begun their long trip back home to Hemel Hempstead.
The whole team of young people and leaders thoroughly enjoyed the adventure, and look forward to further developing their skills on the climbing wall at Phasels Wood activity centre.
