A PUB raised thousands of pounds playing darts for charity in memory of a popular punter – and even his favourite player turned up.

Professional Kevin ‘The Artist’ Painter threw some arrows with the family and friends of Gary Giddings, who died of leukaemia in September 2009.

The event at The Bell pub in Tring. started on Saturday, March 19 and was organised by Gareth Johnson with help from landlady Tania Johnson and Gary’s widow Paula.

More than £4,000 was raised for Iain Rennie Hospice at Home as Alistair Ryan hit the most 180s and checked out at 133.

Don Jennings raised the highest sponsorship, £300, as players threw darts for 24 hours and held a raffle and auction.
