The hunt is on for some good sports

HANDS-on helpers are needed to organise a family fun day based around the Olympics and Paralympics.

The event is planned for Sunday, July 15 at Hemel Hempstead’s Jarman Park.

Six volunteers are needed with various knowledge and skills of event organisation. The number of hours required will vary from month to month - increasing as the big day looms closer.

> A primary school that is planning its own mini Olympic games needs marshals for the day. The Broadfield Primary School sports day is planned for Friday, June 15 at Jarman Park Athletic Track.

> Garden lovers can give back while using their horticultural skills.

Sunnyside Rural Trust, which creates opportunities for people with learning difficulties, needs someone to help out with outdoor maintenance and general gardening. Tasks could include growing plants and food, selling produce, general site maintenance, poultry care, fruit picking, basic building work, painting and repairs.

Flexible working hours are on offer between the times of 8am and 4pm, including weekends.

> Diamond Jubilee and Olympic fun volunteers are needed to make sure events to mark the occasions go without a hitch. Help ensure Hemel Hempstead’s leg of the Olympic torch goes smoothly by volunteering as a marshal on Sunday, July 8 – orr get involved with carnival fun as a float driver for the big parade in Hemel Hempstead on Monday, June 4.
