Award judges Sheila Chauhan and Jodie Crebbin are looking for community champions who work on a voluntary basis to make their part of the world cleaner, safer and greener.
Dacorum Borough Council’s Community Champion Award, now in its fifth year, recognises the spirit of individuals and community groups who show pride in where they live and make efforts to improve their neighbourhood.
Residents can nominate themselves, an individual or a group. Last year, the trophy was awarded to the Hemel Hempstead Conservation Volunteers who run a programme of environmental clean-up tasks, like hedge-cutting and litter-picking. Marc Simpson, the ‘Rubbish Runner’from Tring who picks up litter every time he goes out running and brings it home to recycle, was also recognised.
