A NEW car park could be built in a village, its leaders have hinted.
Potten End Parish Council heard on Thursday that villagers often cannot find a parking space near where they live.
Villager Barry McKeich said cars are often left on a bend where The Plough pub is, making it hard to see around it.
He said: “There could be a kid coming round the corner on a scooter. It is a horrible way to drive, especially as it gets dark.”
His friend Bill Stannard said: “The council should think about permits for parking for residents - this is becoming a nightmare.”
Council chairman Simon Barnard said: “All the villages are suffering more and more as people get more and more cars.”
Dacorum Borough Council finance chief Nick Tiley said part of the Spencer Holland Recreation Area in the village could be turned into a car park.
If not garages in Homefield could be got rid of to make a car park three times bigger, he said.
Village leaders will consult the public on the ideas.
