Aimee’s fancy footwork is a hit on stage and pitch
Nine-year-old Aimee Chapman likes ballet and football.
The spotlight has been shining on women in sport thanks to the Olympics and one youngster is embracing two sports from opposite ends of the spectrum.
Nine-year-old Aimee Chapman will take to the stage later this month with the English Youth Ballet for The Sleeping Beauty at Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre.
But this twinkle-toed Gadebridge girl, who has been dancing since the age of three, also likes football.
She has been a member of Hemel Hempstead’s Comets Sports Club since she was seven years old.
The team has won 16 of its last 18 games, drawing in the other two and will enter the football league later this year.
Aimee said: “I love ballet and I love football – I like them both the same. My ballet helps my football because it gives me good balance. Football helps my ballet because it gives me energy.”
Aimee will be dancing alongside sister Ellie, 11, who also plays netball for Dacorum Youth Netball Team.
