Amy's belated birthday boost

A vintage car lovingly restored by a father and daughter team is now in the running for national honours.

Amy Clements, 32, of Stationers Place in Apsley, and her father Keith Clements have spent a year bringing the 1954 Jowett Jupiter SC back to its former glory.

Mr Clements bought the car in 1979 as a virtual wreck with plans to restore it in time for Amy's 17th birthday.

However, things did not work out like that - and it was only last year that the pair teamed up with Amy's boyfriend Jack Moon and fellow enthusiast Chris Spencer to get the job done.

Ms Clements has now entered the car - affectionately known as Napoleon - into the Classic Car of the Year competition.
