The hunt has begun to find fun-loving fundraisers willing to dress up as Santa and dash through Hemel Hempstead’s town centre.

On Sunday, December 9 hundreds of Santas, young and old, will fill the streets to raise money for the Hospice of St Francis.

Families, schools, businesses, joggers and dog-walkers are invited to get into the festive spirit and don and Santa suit to run, jog or walk 2.5 miles.

New this year is the Dashers Cup, which will go to the school that enters the most pupils.

Event organiser Emma Day said: “However you choose to dash the 2.5 mile route, we promise lots of Christmassy fun for all your friends and family. Every age is welcome – find your friends, grab your grandparents and festive up the family dog! You could get your whole school involved! The school with the most Santas recruited will win our exclusive Dashers Cup.

“Signing up will make a real different to the special care we give to patients at the hospice, please raise as much sponsorship as you can.”

It costs £15 for adults to register, £5 for children, or £35 for the whole family – including the dog. Fundraisers will receive a Santa suit or reindeer antlers, a Santa medal, a tasty treat at the finish line and the Snow Centre has donated prizes for the top fundraising Santas.
