Award for young

Young people who give up their time to help in the community will be recognised through an award in memory of a charity stalwart.

On Friday (March 12) Tring Lions will present The John Lane Youth Award to one individual whose stands out.

Mr Lane was a much loved member of the club who died suddenly two years ago.

His widow Judy will be at the ceremony to hand over the award.

Last year's winner was Katie Hill, a young leader with Tring Girlguiding and a member of Tring Youth Town Council.

Then 15 years old, she was picked out because of the time she spent organising activities for guides and brownie sessions, as well as attending monthly council meetings.

The presentation to this year's winner will be at Tring Park Cricket Club from 7pm. Tickets cost 5 per person on the door.

Tring Lions is a fundraising charity that aims to serve humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation.
