Businesses are urged to get behind our troops

Herts businesses are being urged to give money off discounts to retired and serving armed forces personnel in the county.

It is part of a campaign called Proud to Support Hertfordshire Heroes, run by Community Covenant with backing from more than 25 major county organisations, including councils and the police.

Now the private sector-lead Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has put its weight behind the scheme.

Chairman John Gourd sent an open letter to businesses in the county encouraging the private sector to get behind the scheme and “help those who have helped us”.

He said: “This scheme has not been set up as an act of charity but as a small measure of thanks to our armed forces for their continued service to the country.”

To join the scheme send details of your offer to the military to Hertfordshire.Heroes@hertfordshire.gov.uk, For more information on the Community Covenant visit: www.HertfordshireHeroes.org
