Chefs compete for cookery cup
CHEFS will be trying to impress at a town's first ever masterchef cooking competition.
The contest will be held at the special Apple Fair Farmers' Market on October 23 and will see some of the area's top restaurants and takeaways cook off against each other.
Ingredients in the competition sponsored by Tring in Transition must be bought on the market and will make Indian, Bangladeshi, Thai and Malaysian cuisine.
Entrants will have their own spaces on the market where they can present their dish to the public and give away any vouchers, menus and leaflets.
Each competitor must cook one main dish with any side dishes by 12pm before the panel decides who will receive this year's Tring Masterchef Cup.
The judging panel will include Mayor of Tring Roxanne Ransley, her deputy John Allan and The Gazette's Tring reporter Jonathan Saunders.
Cllr Ransley said: "It is important to remind people the Farmers' Market is there.
"The population in Tring changes and sometimes there are people who may not realise it is there.
"The idea is to produce a curry that is different, exciting and the sort people can recreate for themselves with ingredients from the Farmers' Market."
