Decision due on tax benefits

Ways around a cut in government funding, which could see those on low incomes having to pay out more, are due to be considered on Tuesday night.

Dacorum Borough Council’s Cabinet contemplated making unemployed and low-earning families, who do not currently pay any council tax, contribute at least 25 per cent of the total bill.

Government cutbacks mean the council needs to find savings of around £1 million per year.
